To live your life now, go after what you are longing and dreaming about, it doesn’t have to be the big things, it’s more a matter of being you. I have an old father with dementia and spending time with him reminds me to live now. His fading memory comes in waves, sometimes I think about when he will be all gone in the forgetfulness. His mind transport him to another time and space, searching for comforting memories or a more safe, quiet or shut down place. It’s a huge shift in how to relate and identity with him. Before dementia he was very outgoing, social, knew so many people and engaged in a lot of things, now he is the opposite, I really have to keep myself openminded and compassionate with him, and also towards myself and my own identity related to him.
I have several times offered mediumship sessions for relatives to people with dementia and alzheimer’s- and its so touching to sense the healing and comfort it is for the them to know their relatives are still keeping a bond on a soul level.
